Farm Festival was celebrated at Hamilton

Down on the farm was provided right here in the backyard of Bridgewater.

The Hamilton Primary School provided the farm setting and atmosphere when it held its Farm Festival on Friday, June 2

The weather—the thermometer hit near 90 degrees–produced a summer-like feeling for the farm visitors to enjoy.

 And those visitors were plentiful.

According to the spearhead of the Farm Festival, Eileen Welsh, the President of the Hamilton Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), 670 guests registered to come down to the farm.

The fun-filled event, which was in its second year, was sponsored by the school’s PTO and the Bridgewater-Raritan Education Association (BREA).

Both Ms. Welch and Hamilton Principal Tim Beaumont both reported that the reason behind the Farm Festival was “an end of the school year celebration.”

“It is also a community building type of an event,” Principal Beaumont added.

The outside area, both in front of the school and on the courts and fields to the side, plus the multi-purpose room, were filled with various stations, tables, booths and activities.

Plus there was the area for those who are widely associated with a farm–the animals.

Goats and rabbits, courtesy of the Somerset County 4-H Club, joined in on the festivities.

Among the many activities were a garden station where the students painted ceramic pots and planted flowers in them, a tasty make-your-own ice cream sundae station, a face painter, a photo booth, a table inside where balloons were sculptured into art and a large assortment of food and drinks.

Also featured inside the school building was the massive and gifted collection of farm paintings.

Jill Pecora, Hamilton’s Art Teacher, provided as the guide to the exhibit that she proudly boasted “500 drawings.”

Each of the five grades at Hamilton drew pictures of farm animals.

Ms. Pecora explained that the Kindergarten students drew chickens, 1st Grade drew pigs, 2nd Grade crafted cows, 3rd Grade sketched roosters and 4th Grade drew horses.
