Outside learning and activities now featured with opening of two gazebos at Hamilton

Hamilton Primary School students and staff have not just one but two new structures to enjoy outside learning and activities.

Due to the tireless and passionate efforts of the Hamilton Primary School’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), two new gazebos were christened and ready to use on Wednesday, September 14.

One gazebo stands on the side of the school building near the playground while the other structure sits behind Hamilton.

Hamilton principal Tim Beaumont explained the process that actually was launched well over a year and a half ago.

“Work on the Gazebos began in March 2022, spearheaded by former PTO Co-President, Wendy Faiella. Under the stewardship of current Co-President Eileen Welsh, installation of the gazebos was completed this month,’’ Principal Beaumont reported.

 He shared that the additions ‘’ are intended to be used by Hamilton students and staff as a flexible space for outdoor activities and learning opportunities.’’

Ms. Faiella, who kick started the project, and Ms. Welsh, each cut a ribbon of one of the gazebos during a small ceremony at the school on the morning of Wednesday, September 14.

“The gazebos represent years of hard work from three PTO Executive Boards who saw this project through from the inception to completion,” Ms. Faiella revealed. “The original vision was to provide more outdoor learning and activity spaces for Hamilton, and we're excited to see that vision become a reality. The gazebos will be a wonderful addition to Hamilton School!’’

Ms. Welsh praised the work of her colleagues in funding the gazebos.

‘’We’re very excited to be able to provide these gazebos to Hamilton School,’’ Ms.Welsh said. ‘’Thank you especially to all the parents whose fundraising support over the years has made this project possible!’’ 

Principal Beaumont shared Ms.Welsh's gratitude.

‘’ We are grateful to our generous PTO for their ongoing support for our Hamilton School community! The gazebos have been made possible by the efforts of so many of our parents and PTO Executive Board members, from all those involved in fundraising to everyone who played a role in managing the project. We are looking forward to seeing our students and staff enjoying these new outdoor spaces!’’
