The champion of girls’ track and field this spring is the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School.
Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School’s girls’ track and field team was crowned the Meet of Champions winner at the event for local middle schools on Thursday, May 15, in Franklin.
A total of 30 Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School students—16 boys and 14 girls—competed in the Meet of Champions, where 11 of these Bridgewater-Raritan athletes placed in the top three in their events.
Juliet Casamento sparked the girls’ championship for Bridgewater-Raritan when she placed first in the long jump and broke the Meet of Champions record by over six inches with a jump of 16' 6.5". She also came through with a third-place finish in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
Another star in the Middle School’s championship effort for the girls was two-time gold medalist Mila Daniels, who finished first in both the 800-meter run and the 1,600-meter run.
Also contributing to the girls’ title for the Middle School were Arianna Pinto, who placed second in the 200-meter dash; Charlotte Dixon, who was the runner-up in the shot put; and Dariana Popescu, who finished third in the 100-meter hurdles.
On the boys’ side, Bridgewater-Raritan’s Jauden Nikansa was the gold medal winner when he won the 100-meter hurdles. Also placing for the Middle School boys were Louie Lim, who placed second in the 1,600-meter run, and the 4x100 relay team of Connor Adkins, Elias Chinchilla, Ritvik Diada and Nikansa, who finished second.
The Middle School coaches who guided these Bridgewater-Raritan student-athletes to a highly successful outdoor track and field season were Karen D’Aloisio, Carla Fernandez, Tracy Nerger, Anthony Silva and Charles Stickle.
