A lesson to educate students on a holiday classical performance was held on Tuesday, December 3, at the Hamilton Primary School.
Hamilton received a visit from an instructor of The Dance Connection of New Jersey, a dance studio located in Hillsborough, this morning of December 3 when the school’s 2nd Grade students assembled to learn about the history and technique of ballet and also the story of The Nutcracker.
The Nutcracker is a classical ballet by the famed Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and is a story about a girl named Clara who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve.
The Nutcracker, Frosty the Snowman and other popular holiday tunes will be performed when the Hamilton Primary School Winter Assembly is held on Thursday, December 19, starting at 8:35 a.m.
The reason for the visit on December 3 was a result of a flier from The Dance Connection of New Jersey that was sent to Hamilton, where it was received by two of the school’s dedicated staffers, Music Teacher Rina Sklar and Principal’s Secretary Theodora Lambert.
The dance studio was offering a lesson on ballet history and a ballet lesson, featuring The Nutcracker.
Enough said.
“The Nutcracker is what we do so this was a great for them to come,” said Ms. Sklar, who coordinates the performance at the Winter Assembly.
“This lesson fits into what we do here with The Nutcracker,’ Ms. Lambert added.
The 2nd Grade students learned the history of The Nutcracker and ballet and then they hit the multi-purpose room’s floor and performed some dancing of their own.
