Kurdyla

Dave Guglietti, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Supervisor of Health and Physical Education, is one person not surprised over the prestigious award that Erin Kurdyla received on Monday, February 24.

Ms. Kurdyla, a Health and Physical Teacher at the Hamilton Primary School, was honored with the Elementary Teacher of the Year award by the New Jersey Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NJAHPERD) at its annual convention at the Westin at Forrestal Village in Princeton.

According to its website, the NJAHPERD is dedicated to advancing quality health education, physical education, recreation, dance education, and athletics through professional development, programming, advocacy, and collegial exchange. The NJAHPERD promotes responsibility and the development of healthy active lifestyles for New Jersey students, educators, and community members.

Mr. Guglietti was present at the convention to take in Ms. Kurdyla’s award and to listen to the presentations delivered by two Bridgewater-Raritan High School Health and Physical Education Teachers, Adam Pyle and Kevin Wagner.

Mr. Guglietti was thrilled—but not shocked—when Ms. Kurdyla was recognized during the morning session at the convention.

"Every time I witness Mrs. Kurdyla teach, I always walk away inspired and enthused by what she is doing in her Health and Physical Education class to ensure students are developing skills to make them lifelong fitness learners,” Mr. Guglietti said.

He added:

“Her passion and admiration for her craft and her students is exceptional!"
