During the week of September 22nd, all current students in Grades 1 through 4 will take the Northwest Evaluation Association's (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests in mathematics and reading. The tests will be administered during the school day.
MAP is a computerized adaptive assessment that “tests each child differently by responding to how a student answers questions and adjusting the level of difficulty accordingly until a ‘ready to learn’ zone is determined.”
Teachers will use the individualized information from the MAP tests to plan instruction at the appropriate levels for students in their classes. The MAP assessments also serve as a universal screener for students who may be in need of additional instruction through the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
All students will take these MAP tests again in the spring, thereby providing growth data to teachers for individuals and groups of students in their classes.
Any questions regarding the administration of MAP testing can be addressed by our school’s Interim Elementary Teaching Specialist, Alison Jandak. General information about MAP can be found at NWEA.org.

Hamilton's 1st grade classes had a fantastic trip to Doyle’s Farm today! Students enjoyed the opportunity to plant sunflowers, milk a goat, feed the cows and goats, and learn how to shear a sheep’s wool. There was even time to bottle feed the baby goats and lambs! Thanks to our 1st grade team, parent chaperones, PTO, and Doyle's Farm for facilitating the visit.

Hamilton's 4th graders have been learning about how the Earth changes over time. Their learning was brought to life during a recent field trip to the Franklin Mineral Museum. Our students enjoyed the opportunity to see a cave, to observe different types of rocks and minerals found within the earth, and to explore fossils of animals and plants. Thanks to our 4th grade teachers and to Hamilton's PTO for coordinating and facilitating this memorable educational field trip!
